Week 25 Wrap Up

We had a great first week of the 4th quarter. Speaking of fun, please make sure to read the information about our upcoming events. I also want to make sure that everyone see that we will be out of school on Monday April 5th. This is the Monday after Easter.

About 4 weeks ago we mailed just over 100 letters to local businesses letting them know about us and asking for donations that would go towards our tuition assistance fund. We had some response, but we would like to follow up with a phone call. The list of the businesses and their contact information is attached.
Please consider choosing one or two businesses to call and introduce yourself to. I can provide a simple script if you would like one. We hope this personal contact will encourage more people to consider donating. If you decide to help please let us know which businesses you call. This will also count towards your volunteer hours for the year.

3rd-Middle School
We had a busy week full of reading and writing poetry. We also spent time learning about figurative language (simile, metaphor, alliteration, etc.) which they enjoyed because there was an extra recess for those who were able to master it. We started using a new grammar book to supplement what we are already doing and the students seem to like it. We also focused on mean, median, mode and range in math. For MS/5th social studies was about feudalism and Willam the Conqueror. 3rd/4th learned about the Assyrian Empire. In science MS/5th grade continued their study of sound and sound waves while 4th studied ocean waves and 3rd studied insect reproduction (just eggs and larva 😉).
Have a great spring weekend!
